LAKE TOXAWAY, N.C. (October 5, 2016) – The Skinner Round-Up presented by Cessna is back in 2016 to benefit Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit focused on restoring self, family and hope for post-9/11 service members, veterans and military families. Hosted by 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Mike Skinner and his wife, Angie, the two-day event will feature its traditional Hoedown Bash and golf tournament, along with some new additions—the Gunslingers 30 Shot Competition and the Skinner Corral of HOPE. The two-day event will take place near Lake Toxaway in the mountains of North Carolina on October 20-21.

Angie and I are so excited to bring the Skinner Round-Up presented by Cessna to the mountains of North Carolina this year,” said Mike Skinner, 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion. “We discovered Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort about five years ago, and we’re so excited to have our family, friends and fans here for this year’s Round-Up event. We couldn’t be more thrilled that all proceeds will be donated to Hope For The Warriors, either. Hope For The Warriors is a military nonprofit that we discovered right around the same time that I retired from full-time racing, and being able to spend time with their staff and service members really helped me through that transition. I’m so thankful to all of our partners for their support and I’m excited to give back to Hope For The Warriors this year.”

Countless sponsors have joined the effort to make the 2016 Skinner Round-Up presented by Cessna possible, including Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort and Burlingame Country Club who have graciously offered to host this year’s event. New to the 2016 event, the Gunslinger’s 30 Shot Competition is presented by NRA and Bad Boy Off Road, while the Skinner Corral of HOPE is presented by Liberty Coach. Thursday night’s Hoedown Bash is presented by Cessna, while E-Z-GO will present Friday’s Skinner Round-Up Golf Classic. Additional partners supporting the Skinner Round-Up include Black Bear Lodge, Bulova, Calvin and Peggy Braxton, Carrabba’s, E-Z Line, FocusPoint, Forth Right Wealth Management, Andrew T Franzone, Sam and Edwina Friedman, Germain Racing, Millennium Luxury Coaches, Molto Bella Boutique, mpower, Suntrust, Toyota, Toyota Racing, Walker Marina and Renee Wampler.

"We have been blessed to have Mike and Angie Skinner as advocates and friends of Hope for a few years now. It is an honor  to be the beneficiary of this year’s Skinner Round-Up in North Carolina” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of Hope For The Warriors. “We look forward to utilizing these funds to empower veterans, service members and military families in our communities."

With Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort and Burlingame Country Club graciously hosting this year’s events, the fun will kick off on Thursday with the Gunslinger’s 30 Shot Competition presented by NRA and Bad Boy Off Road. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Skinner Corral of HOPE presented by Liberty Coach on Thursday afternoon, where Skinner will join former NASCAR competitors Ron Hornaday, Jack Sprague and Rick Crawford for an hour-long autograph session. With a championship race truck display, hayrides, food trucks, beverage tastings, and motorcoach display, the Skinner Corral of HOPE presented by Liberty Coach is free and open to the public 12 p.m. through 6 p.m.

For those of you that missed Mike's run at Goodwood this year, below is a link to Mike’s “mental” run in the Shoot Out which led to our podium finish - 3rd overall in a truck and 1st in NASCAR division!

Forward to 1:37:50 and you will see the amazing thrilling run and the commentators fabulous comments on Mike and the Toyota Tundra.

Track conditions would not allow a record breaker, so Andrew and Mike are already brainstorming new modifications - The amazing part of Mike’s run to me is that he pulled off such an aggressive run on that dirty and wet track - my heart is still pounding!

No one said he was normal folks!

MIKE SKINNER RACES TO DOMINANT WIN IN NASCAR CLASS AT 2016 GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

Former NASCAR Champion finishes an impressive third overall in hill climb event

GOODWOOD, West Sussex, United Kingdom (June 27, 2016) – Mike Skinner drove his No. 5 Cessna Toyota Tundra to Victory Lane in the NASCAR class at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, United Kingdom on Sunday afternoon. The 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion finished third overall in the competition with a 50.44-second effort up the 1.16-mile course.

I’m always honored to compete at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and race up Lord March’s famous hill climb course,” said Skinner. “We have such wonderful support from our partners like Cessna, Toyota, Caymus Vineyards, as well as our financial partners—SunTrust, Sentinel Real Estate, FocusPoint, Warrington and Florence Capital. With the support of my good friend and team owner Andrew Franzone, who also drives the second of the three NASCAR trucks that we bring, and our team from Racecar Solutions, we’re able to build a strong truck every year. To be able to say that we’ve won our class each of the last three years is great; but to say that we finished third overall is even more impressive, since the event is typically dominated by four-wheel drive, Pikes Peak-style hill climb machines. I’m really proud of our effort this year. It was awesome to watch Andrew drive on the course. We missed having Bill Goldberg drive our third celebrity truck to raise awareness for Hope For The Warriors, but it opened up a great opportunity for us to put Richard Childress Racing development driver Carter Stokes, as well as US Marine Corps veteran 1stSgt Travis Hanson in our third Toyota Tundra.”

The 2016 event was marred with weather, as rain showers threatened the forecast throughout the entire three days. After running fifth and eighth in Friday’s two batch runs among the field of 53 cars, all three trucks sat out during their batch run on Saturday morning due to a wet course. On Saturday afternoon, Skinner returned to the track for a qualifying run, which placed him 13th in the heavy rain. By Sunday’s finals, Skinner picked up nearly three seconds from his fastest attempt to record the 50.44-second hill climb run, despite the constantly changing track conditions.

It was awesome to see Mike drive so well in those slippery track conditions and heavy rain,” said Franzone. “They say these trucks are built for a good time, not a long time, and this weekend surely put that to the test. Having driven the same course throughout the entire weekend myself in our second truck, I know how awesome Mike’s times were throughout all three days, especially during the final shootout run on Sunday. I want to thank all of our supporters for rallying around the Drive For Hope program, which we’re so happy to be a part of, while raising funds and awareness for Hope For The Warriors.”

The victory was made possible through joint partnerships with Textron Aviation, Cessna, Beechcraft, Bell Helicopter, Bad Boy Off-Road, E-Z-GO, Toyota, Caymus Vineyards, National Wild Turkey Federation, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Charlie 1 Horse Hat Company, Florence Capital Group, FocusPoint, Justin Boots, Maui Jim, Max Papis Innovations, Sentinel Real Estate, SunTrust, and Warrington Asset Management.

Hosted by Lord March at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, United Kingdom, the Goodwood Festival of Speed features every kind of car imaginable from the 1800s through today while also attracting some of the most accomplished drivers in motorsports. In 2017, the festival will celebrate their 25th anniversary. CAYMUS VINEYARDS PARTNERS WITH MIKE SKINNER FOR GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED EFFORT

Three Trucks, Three Drivers, Aiming for One Record-Breaking Run

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 1, 2016) – Mike Skinner is joining forces with a longtime friend and supporter for this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed as Caymus Vineyards partners with the former NASCAR Champion for the annual hill climb event in West Sussex, England. The vineyard’s logo will appear on Skinner’s firesuit, as well as the “Skinner Special” truck, which he will use during an attempt to win his third consecutive victory in the NASCAR class, and better the record time he first set on the famous hill climb course in 2014 and then eclipsed again in 2015. In addition, Caymus Vineyards will also be featured on the “Celebrity Truck” driven by professional athlete, WWE World Heavyweight Champion and WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Bill Goldberg.

I am very excited to have Caymus Vineyards join us for our Goodwood effort,” said Skinner. “I’ve enjoyed their wines for many years. Much like Caymus makes first-class wines, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is a first-class event, so we can’t wait to represent them there. We have a great group of partners that we work with for this event—Cessna, Beechcraft, Bell Helicopter, Toyota, E-Z-GO, Bad Boy Buggies, Justin Boots, Charlie 1 Horse Hats, Maui Jim, SiriusXM, FocusPoint Private Capital Group, SunTrust Bank, Sentinel Real Estate, Warrington Asset Management, Florence Capital, our nonprofit beneficiary Hope For The Warriors, and now Caymus Vineyards—it’s just such a fun and special event for both myself and our team owner Andrew Franzone. Caymus wines would certainly pair well with victory, and I hope we’re all able to celebrate together at the awards ceremony that Sunday afternoon.”

Skinner’s relationship with Caymus Vineyards actually spans back to 2008 when the two celebrated together in Victory Lane at Las Vegas Motor Speedway while Skinner was racing for Bill Davis.

The June race will be a reunion of sorts, as the team will bring three NASCAR trucks to England. With team owner Franzone driving the third entry on the circuit, all three machines driven by Skinner, Goldberg and Franzone have connections to the Bill Davis Racing family.

We are extremely pleased to support Mike Skinner in his races at Goodwood this year,” said Chuck Wagner, Owner/Winemaker of Caymus Vineyards. “We truly appreciate his patronage of our wines over the years and want to return that support. And we feel honored to be in the company of great people and organizations that support racing. Whatever the business or professional endeavor, we value the pursuit of excellence and pushing to achieve the best possible performance.”

Hosted by Lord March at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England, the Goodwood Festival of Speed features every kind of car imaginable from the 1800s through today while also attracting some of the most accomplished drivers in motorsports. This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place June 23-26. Follow @MStheGunslinger on Twitter, or @SkinnerRoundUp on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram for news and updates throughout the event.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (January 13, 2016) – Renewed for a second season, “Skinner Round-Up” on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio has adopted a new format for 2016. Angie and I have had so much fun with ‘Skinner Round-Up’ over the last year, we’re excited to be back on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio in 2016 and to expand the show with a new segment,” said Mike Skinner. “We had NASCAR veteran Mark Martin on the show back in December and we were laughing together while sharing stories, and it just hit Angie and me—why weren’t we doing this every week? That’s really how the NASCAR Throwback segment came to be. The show gives us a chance to connect with our friends in the garage and celebrities from all different industries, while also sharing our passion for NASCAR with race fans around the globe. We’re very lucky to be a part of it.”

New to the “Skinner Round-Up” lineup in 2016 is the weekly NASCAR Throwback segment. Bringing NASCAR champions, veteran drivers and industry leaders back on the airwaves, this segment will allow guests to share their behind-the-scenes stories from the NASCAR garage, while also sharing a laugh with the listeners.

In addition, “Skinner Round-Up” will continue to feature many of its traditional segments that listeners tuned in for last year. Mike Skinner will continue his weekly technical analysis with a segment titled Skinner’s Garage presented by WIX Filters. The segment will allow social media users to tweet in their tech questions for Skinner to address on the air, and will also incorporate guest callers from the NASCAR industry throughout the year. NASCAR Outdoors presented by Bad Boy Buggies and E-Z-GO will continue to incorporate a special guest to talk about their outdoor interests and hobbies through this weekly lifestyle segment. Throughout the show’s first season, guests included everyone from NASCAR drivers and team owners, to professional hunters, fishers and more. Likewise, the Celebrity Drive-By presented by Cessna will continue to bring celebrity guests from outside the NASCAR industry to the show, while continuing to feature some of the hottest names from both Hollywood and Nashville.

Mike and I are so grateful to remain a part of the SiriusXM NASCAR family,” said Angie Skinner. “I can’t tell you how much fun it’s been to work on ‘Skinner Round-Up.’ We really enjoy having a show that allows us to discuss everything that’s going on within the NASCAR industry, and then to connect with fans and professionals from within the sport on a regular basis throughout the year. We’re so excited for the Throwback segment this year that will enable us to reconnect with old friends, and hopefully share all the stories that we couldn’t share before! We have such great partners in WIX Filters, Bad Boy Buggies, E-Z-GO, Cessna, Justin Boots and Maui Jim. Mike and I can’t thank them enough for their continued support, which lets us keep having fun on the air!”

MIKE SKINNER WINS AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

MIKE SKINNER WINS AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
NASCAR Champion Returns to Late Model Racing after a Decade to Win Pro Late Model Race

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (January 4, 2016) – Mike Skinner drove to a dominating win in the No. 5 American Auto / Hope For The Warriors / Management Resource Systems pro late model at New Smyrna Speedway on Saturday night. Claiming the checkered flag in the Zack Donatti Memorial 100, the retired NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion returned to late model competition for the first time in approximately a decade at the half-mile oval in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. The race marked the first event of the 2016 Drive For Hope program organized by Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit focused on restoring self, family and hope for post-9/11 service members, veterans and military families.

In a dominating performance, Skinner led all but three laps en route to collecting the checkered flag in Saturday’s 100-lap race. After setting the fast lap in qualifying, Skinner rolled off in the fourth position following an inversion that set the final race lineup. The Volusia County resident quickly claimed the lead, taking over the top spot by the fourth lap of the race. A series of mid-to-late race restarts led to several challenges for the front spot; however, the NASCAR veteran ultimately held the lead on each restart to finish the evening in Victory Lane.

Saturday night’s race was such a fun and special night for me,” said Skinner. “Racing with my sons and our team at Racecar Solutions, and having some of my grandsons with me in Victory Lane was such a cool experience that I’ll never forget. I can’t thank our friends EJ Wilcoxon at American Auto, Mike Swaim at Management Resource Systems, and our team owner Andrew Franzone enough for helping me put this race together. To race with Hope For The Warriors on the car and be able to promote their organization was really, really cool. I’m honored to have been able to participate in the Drive For Hope program, to help bring it back to its roots and to kick off the 2016 season. Our service members are the real American heroes, so it means a lot to me to be able to help support them while doing something that I love.”
